Durango is a series of comic strip created by Yves Swolfs, fan since his youngest age of spaghetti westerns. For his hero, he is inspired by the character played by Jean-Louis Trintignant in Italian western Le Grand Silence.

Synopsis
 character main is a solitary man, nicknamed “the peacemaker”. It kills by self-defence. From the second book, Durango loses the use of his right hand. It becomes quickly skilful left hand and buys a Mauser C96, first automatic weapon, which benefits him some.

Abstracts
Dogs die in winter: history, quite classic, borrows from the movie I am an adventurer figures of the rich farmer who tyrannized the region, the hostess saloon big heart and the solitary wish. The scenario is based on that of the Great Silence. In Wyoming, a local potentate employs a band of assassins to eliminate competition from small farmers, accusing them of cattle theft. Durango, a pistolero reputation above, is called in reinforcements by his brother. When it comes to White Valley, it is to learn the death of the latter, killed by the Reno gang leader. Rosie, assisted fugitive prostitute, it decimates the mercenaries. In the action, Durango loses the use of his right hand, Rosie is killed in his life-saving.
The Forces of anger: Durango slowly covers injuries received in the previous game. He can move with a crutch and is hosted by Sean, an old man, not far from Peacefull Church whose inhabitants, peaceful, and believers are hostile to his presence. The life of the village is suddenly disturbed by the eruption of “Crazy” Joe Callahan and his sons, who have just robbed a bank. A son was killed while attempting to rape the daughter of his hosts. When the body is found, Callahan threatens retaliation on the entire population if the culprit is not delivered. Although inferior in numbers, Durango and the rare armed inhabitants tend a trap to the outlaw and manage to exterminate them. When the Marshall arrives, Durango already departed, only.
Trap for a killer: Durango, after the acquisition of an automatic pistol to compensate for the handicap of his right hand, arrives in the town of Silverbridge, where he is to meet his new employer. This last, Mr. Allen, had already sent men to meet him but they were shot by hired killers Durango then neutralized definitively. Unfortunately, Durango is drugged to the saloon and wakes up to the side of the body of Allen. Sheriff Jenkins it stops immediately, but he manages to escape. He ends up understanding that her employer wanted its protection, to keep mining he owned. This is another operator that killed Allen. The widow of the Durango dates back to the trail of the killers, and is found in competition with an anonymous pistolero. It is tasked to focus on all the farms in the region. After winning their duel, Durango is forced to flee because he is still considered a killer.
Amos: Durango helps an another desperado whose head is priced at the Mexican border: Amos. It offers him to partner for a time with him and do it in a case of sale of arms to the Mexican guerrillas. However Durango is pursued by Logan, former partner of the anonymous killer of Silverbridge, and Jenkins, the former Sheriff. Amos, it is followed closely by an agent of the Pinkerton, Charlie Siringo. Durango has an adventure with the wife of the arms dealer, a Billings, who falls in love him. When her husband will betray its customers for the benefit of Logan, it prevent them, leaving enough time to Amos to escape. Durango will be captured by Logan and then saved by Siringo and imprisoned.
Wild Sierra: Durango is out of prison, to help the Texas Rangers to hunt down Amos at the Mexico. Liberty will be final if he returns with Amos, dead or alive. But Amos strikes the first: he release his guards by Ortega, his lieutenant Angels Durango, and hosts it in its revolutionary, where he finds his companion. Durango will help combat the Federal and land owners. He meets a young German, Max, who wants to meet with Amos, the great revolutionary. His arrival in the troupe causes a split among the guerrillas, who lose the most ferocious of them for the benefit of the Mexican army and Logan, still further Durango. The band of Amos has recovered numerous weapons, but their former comrades now guide the army towards them.
The fate of a desperado: in the village where they are refugees, the Mexican revolutionaries find themselves besieged by the army. They are quickly swept by guns, the companion of Durango is killed. Only four men arrive to escape from the hornet’s nest: Durango and Ortega on the one hand, Amos and (injured) Max on the other. Logan, still further Durango, arrived in cornering in old mission. Fortunately, the intervention of Max (who will be killed) allows Durango, Amos and Ortega of incapacitating permanently harming Logan and his men. However, Amos has been seriously affected; Durango completes it and brings back his corpse to the United States, to obtain his release and an amnesty.
Loneville: Durango saves a farmer of the killers of her husband, shortly before arriving at Loneville. He learns that the men are part of a band of pests led by White Head. They take it to the people, and no notable does to their head. A young orphan attaches to Durango, which is the target of the killers to have shot down six of them; He decided to intervene when the orphan is removed by the band. A mysterious sponsor finance White Head that he put to bag the city; It is in fact a notable companion had been accused of a murder he did not commit, and that the inhabitants had been left hanging. He is bought by preventing Durango of White Head attack but is killed in it. Durango resumes.
A reason to die: Durango is hired by Mr. Steelgrave to protect and his wife during a hunting party. However Lucy Steelgrave has other projects: she wishes to kill her husband with the complicity of a band of Desperadoes which she is familiar with the Chief. Durango, seduced by Lucy, is knocked unconscious and Steelgrave was killed, as its employees. An old cowboy, Duncan, helping then Durango to find Lucy band, committing numerous murders, the hopelessness of the latter. After a heist designed and implemented by Lucy and his accomplices, Durango and Duncan destroy the band, except Lucy. Duncan warned that Lucy would be for him but he is killed in the battle; Durango then learns from the mouth of Lucy that he was his father, who had left it in the hands of a mother maquerelle.
 
The gold of  Duncan: Lucy Steelgrave and Durango followed the last wishes of Duncan, who wanted to put her daughter from want. He indicated the hiding place of a treasure in the region where it was once Sheriff. At the same time, a man named Ryan escaped and hand him also for the Treasury: it is the former Deputy of Duncan, gathered the Treasury magouillant during his tenure. Arrived at destination, Durango and Lucy are stealing the map by the Dragon Lily band, a desperado woman. Aided reluctantly by Ryan, who has a need for them to find the hiding place of the Treasury, they succeed in eliminating competition, while leaving leave Ryan. The prey of jackals: Durango slaughters three cowboys who wanted to reduce a young Indian slavery. He was arrested in the following city, denounced for murder by one of the survivors. An Indian, for his companion disappeared in Indian prostitution network, releases. Durango, by recognition, assistance to find it. They spend the Mexican border and eliminate Jaime Alonzo, the head of the network, and the band of the mad killer Diego Chanas, retrieve the companion of the Indian and return to the United States
Colorado: hired by an anonymous employer, Durango is found in Nortonville, led by Mr. Norton, large owner. His reputation as a fine trigger does recruit by the Sheriff Maxwell, on the orders of Norton, sow terror among the poor people. During this time, a federal agent, under cover of professional photographer, sometimes him at Nortonville to discover the reasons for the disappearance of a colleague. Durango met Célia Norton, his sponsor and the daughter of Norton, who wishes that Maxwell is eliminated, citing the bad influence on his father. Nortonville miners try to organize resistance against Maxwell, which will soon discover that Durango is a double agent.
The heiress: left for dead by Maxwell, Durango is doing and, helped by minors, made escape Célia Norton of the asylum where she was confined by his father. Both fell in love with one another, and it is together that they are plan to regain control of the city. Norton is killed by Maxwell but Durango and the minors, under the disapproving gaze of federal agent, reduced Maxwell, who is finally killed by Durango affiliate. The latter then decided to stay with Celia.
Without pity: during a hold-up at Nortonville including Durango is witness, a few robbers managed to escape. Volunteers for the prosecution are forced to retreat when the fugitives take refuge in another county; only Durango follows and the slaughters all but Louie Holedigger, a psychopath. Marshal participating, of Holwood County stops Durango by claiming that he is the author of the killings, but he is soon released after clarification. In fact, participating is a former accomplice of the abuses of Louie and eventually stand on its side after having killed his assistants. Durango will eliminate them both.
A step towards hell: Durango, ready to accept the position of Sheriff of Nortonville and become a father, is brutally deprived of its own by desperados loaded to compel mine owners to surrender their farms to a conglomerate. Eager for revenge, follows the band, led by Lance Harlan, until their next target, which he uses to eliminate criminals and find sponsors.
El Cobra: Durango, still on the runway of the sponsors of the death of his wife and her unborn child, crosses the road to an another killer for hire, El Cobra, which follows a track similar to his own, but for very different reasons.
Array of hunting :over fifteen albums, Durango was shot a total of at least 160 men. Highest balance is one of the album the heir: 21.

 Yves Swolfs, born April 25, 1955 in Brussels, Belgium, is a screenwriter and cartoonist of Belgian comic strip.
Biografy
At the end of the 1970s, after literary studies, Yves Swolfs studies of journalism (1976-1979) and attended courses with Claude Renard workshop R, section comic Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels. The end of his studies is sanctioned by a diploma awarded by the superior school of Art. His first story appeared in the second volume of the ninth dream, series of collective albums of students of the workshop, published in 1978 in editions of Archers.
Yves Swolfs began his career as cartoonist by advertising illustrations, small comic strips and various works. In May 1980, he creates Durango, western inspired by the western spaghetti and Clint Eastwood character. The series appears without pre-publication editions of the Archers. Dargaud the bought ten years later.
In 1987, he is trying to to the bandaged comic history with Dampierre, series created for the magazine experience (Glénat), whose plot lies at the time of the Vendée wars and the French Revolution. Published in September-October 1989, volume 2 is presented in preview to the castle of the Puy du Fou. From the third book, it focuses on the scenario and to abandon drawing to Eric and Pierre Legein. In 1994, he began the saga of the Prince of the night, a history of vampire through the ages, which won a great success. In May 2000, he imagines the adventures of Vlad with Griffo to drawing, published in the “Third wave” of the Lombard collection. He has also created a western entitled Black Hills 1890. In 2003, it starts a new series entitled legend, which takes place in the middle ages.
In addition to the comic strip, Yves Swolfs plays guitar in a group of hard-rock, “Lazarus”, who knows some success in Belgium. He was on trial with Michael Jackson on the copying of one of his songs. In late 2006, the new musical Swolfs Group (“Wolf Gang”) out a CD accompanying the volume 3 of legend.
